UM July 2020 Workshop

University of Michigan Department of Mathematics is hosting a FREE 3-day workshop will run

Tuesday - Thursday, July 28 - 30, 1pm - 5pm

(Preliminary) Workshop Description

This 3-day, 12-hour virtual workshop will:

  • give you a broad introduction to using Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) in your math teaching,
  • be fully interactive, collaborative, and hands-on,
  • be guided by principles you can apply to teaching in both in-person and virtual environments (and everything in between!)
  • give you a structure for making concrete plans for your Fall 2020 IBL courses
  • provide you with further resources to utilize before, during, and after the workshop

Participants:

  • 20 slots are reserved for members of the University of Michigan Department of Mathematics.
  • 5 slots are reserved for Community College Faculty in Michigan.
  • 15 slots are open to any college math instructors who teach within the state of Michigan or nearby areas.
  • All college math instructors (including graduate students) are welcome as participants.
  • Program is aimed at new and intermediate users of Inquiry-Based Learning.

Logistics:

  • The workshop is FREE
  • Meetings will happen virtually, over Zoom, and will include breaks.
